TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - For the past four years, the Chiles softball team has dominated their District, winning four straight District titles.
On Thursday, they looked to win their fifth, but Lincoln gave them all they had. The Trojans scored two early, but Chiles fought back. In the bottom of the 7th, down 2-1, Lamari White hit a deep ball in the gap which brought in two runs, and in turn, gave Chiles the win.
"These girls have worked really hard to get where they are going," said Chiles head coach Cynthia Jevyak. "At the beginning of the game we didn't execute, but that right there, that just goes to show you what heart we have. This shows you the heart that we have and these girls certainly work hard for it."
In Class 5A, Godby fell to Marianna. Florida High fell 11-1 to North Bay Haven in the Class 4A District 1 title game, while in Class 3A, Rocky Bayou beat North Florida Christian 6-1 to claim the District 1 title.
Lafayette continues their District dominance, claiming the 1A-5 title over Madison County 4-3 to win their 13th straight District Championship.
