TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Chiles Timberwolves faced Lincoln Thursday night for the Class 8A District 1 title, and behind the arm of senior pitcher Erin O'Leary, Chiles got it done.
Maegan Tomlinson singled in the bottom of the fifth inning, and freshman Sierra Jeyvak drove her in for the games only run.
"Last year I was watching, and now I'm here," Jeyvak said of the big win. "It feels great to win it. Us together, when we're part of a team, we're together. There's no drama, there's no this and that, we're a family."
"This was my goal the entire year to get to the District Championship and win it," added O'Leary. "We couldn't of done it in a better way. 1-0, it's a great game. We call ourselves the comeback kids, because we're not going to let it slip away from us!"
Wakulla won a District title Thursday night, beating Mosley 6-0 for the 6A-2 crown. Lafayette won their 12th straight District title, as they beat Madison County 6-4 for the 1A-5 title.
