SOUTH GEORGIA (WTXL) - Valdosta State didn't have to look far for one of their 15 Georgia commits on Wednesday. Riley Maynard, the Blazers newest lineman, is a 6'4, 300 pound guard out of Cairo.
Maynard was the lone Syrupmaker to sign on Signing Day, but said Valdosta State felt like home and he likes their winning pedigree.
"Going into Valdosta, I just think no matter what the team thinks they'e going to do before the season you can always win," he said.
Thomasville High School celebrated several signings, with five Bulldogs getting the chance to play at the next level.
Quinton Jones inked with Gardner Webb, Kevon Shy to West Georgia, JT Rice will play quarterback at Coffeyville Community College, Benjamin Tillman III heads to Jacksonville University, and Jadiah Diggs will suit up for Albany State.
"They should be able to look back at this three year span and say we did something awesome," said head coach Zach Grage. "They'll always be able to come and look back at this. I hope it'll help them out."
