VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Gulf South Conference, Monday, honored Valdosta State quarterback Jake Medlock as the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
Medlock helped lead the Blazers to a 40-6 win at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium against previously unbeaten and then No. 21 ranked West Georgia.
After transferring from FIU, Medlock won the starting job in fall camp, and has been improving by the week.
"It just took some time, new team new offense," explained Medlock. "This is, I wanna say my sixth offense in five years. It just took a little time, but now we're clicking and ready to roll."
"He feels a lot more comfortable with the things that we're asking him to do," added VSU head football coach David Dean. "Knowing him now and how he performs in a game, we kinda build our offense around some of the things he does well."
Against West Georgia, Medlock connected on 10-of-18 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 145 yards on 25 carries, including one more score.
