Blazer golf finishes 16th at Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. - Valdosta State shot a final round 303 to finish 16th at the Bobcat Invitational at the par 70, 6,730 yard Cuscowilla Golf Club Tuesday.

The Blazers finished the tournament at 906 for the three rounds, 66 strokes over par. Lynn (286) shot a 14-over 854 to claim team medalist honors while USC-Aiken (286), Nova Southeastern (294) and Armstrong Atlantic (291) all tied for second at 860. Florida Southern (294) rounded out the top five at 26 over par while Barry (293) was four strokes behind in sixth.

Columbus State (286) was seventh at 871, five shots better than Rollins (294). Carson-Newman (300) followed in ninth at 883 and West Florida (296) was a stroke behind while Georgia College (290) and North Alabama (291) tied for 11th at 885. Georgia Southwestern (299) finished 13th at 886 and Clayton State (295) 14th at 894 while Lander (306) bested VSU by a stroke. UNC-Pembroke (307) rounded out the field at 916.

John Fordham (76) and Clarke Hendrick (75) each shot a 225 to tie for 54th while Abdul Sihag (73) was a stroke back and tied for 58th. Nate Anderson (79) tallied a 233 to tie for 76th and Drew McGuire (81) was 86th at 240.

Armstrong Atlantic's Gus Wagoner claimed individual medalist honors at 208.

Valdosta State returns to action Monday, April 1 when it opens play in the Buccaneer Invitational in Miami Gardens, Fla.
