MONTICELLO, Fl. (WTXL) - High school State Softball Championships kick off Monday for teams in Florida. The Aucilla Christian Lady Warriors got well wishes Friday from classmates.
The ladies are making the trip for the fifth straight year. They've won two State Championships in that time frame, and fell short of their third last season with a two to one loss in last year's title game.
This year, this team is ready to take care of business and bring it home.
"It could have been a three peat last year, but since we got beat we want to redeem ourselves and come out with a win," said senior Abigail Morgan. "As seniors, we want to give it our all and leave our hearts on the field with everything we got."
"I think for this year, what's so special is the seniors that I have now is the group that I started with here," said head coach Becky Brandies. "It makes this year extra sweet to me. It's been great every year going, but having the girls I started with on another state championship team, hopefully."
Aucilla faces Master's Academy in Class 2A on Monday at 10:35. Madison County faces Trenton in the 1A State Semifinals at 2:20 on Monday.
State Championship games for both squads are on Tuesday.
