TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.

At The 223 Agency, everyone is hard at work, making sure restaurants in Tallahassee survive the pandemic.

"We saw a need to help restaurants in need as the pandemic was hitting, so we decided to, in partnership with the Office of Economic Vitality create an online directory called TLH2GO," said founder Dustin Rivest.

A directory that lists information about restaurants like store hours and what kind of food they serve.

"Through that, we decided to create another company called Foodies Takeout which is the online platform that kind of competes with the Uber Eats and the Bite Squads and the ChowNows," said Rivest.

Unlike other third-party food ordering apps, Foodies Takeout is free, helping businesses save the typical 30% service fee.

Jeri Madden, the owner of Jeri's Midtown Cafe, says partnering with 223 has helped her see a boost in sales.

"Since I've been signed up with them in like April or May, they have actually added $100,000 to my bottom line," said Madden.

That, despite the state shutting down bars and restaurants for a couple of months last year. Madden adds the free program has allowed her to keep most of her profits.

"We're all about supporting local and so I wanted to make sure that the dollars were being kept local," said Madden.
