TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - North Florida Christian is consistently one of the most successful programs in the Big Bend. Last year, the Eagles reached the second round of the playoffs. This year, they are looking to make a little more noise.
The Eagles graduated a talented senior class, and despite losing a lot of play makers, a lot of guys are back.
Quarterback JD Jerry is healthy after missing last season, and the Eagles also return their leading rusher and their top two receivers.
Head coach Steve Price likes how fall camp has gone, and says the leadership from this senior class has been the difference maker.
"They're really grown up as far as leadership and that kind of stuff," he said. "They've just kind of stepped right in, when the seniors left and I'm really proud of them. We're really solid everywhere, and we've almost got out of preseason injury free. That's always the goal, get to that first game healthy and ready to go."
Preseason next week for NFC. They'll host North Florida Educational Institute at 7:00 next Friday.
