Woman Seriously Injured After Car Overturns Multiple Times in Suwannee County

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers said that a woman has suffered serious injuries after her car rolled over multiple times on I-10 in Suwannee County. 

The Florida Highway Patrol said that Samantha Downing, 20, was traveling east on I-10 around 12 p.m. They said that Downing was riding in the left lane near mile marker 283, when she began to drift.

When she drifted, they said she crossed the median emergency lane and hit a guardrail with the left side of her car. Troopers said her car spun counterclockwise before the front of the car hit the guardrail again, causing the car to rotate and overturn.

They said that the car rolled over multiple times and came to a final rest on its wheels. Troopers said that Downing was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Downing was transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center for serious injuries. 

Troopers said that Downing may be facing charges of careless driving and driving without a seat belt.
