WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A man has been charged with grand theft after deputies discovered he stole hundreds of dollars worth of equipment from his job and pawned it in Leon County for $40.
On Wednesday, deputies say a local business owner reported a vehicle burglary to the sheriff's office.
The business owner told a WCSO detective that an employee, James Callentine, had stolen two commercial chain binders valued at $400 and a 20-foot tension chain valued at $100 from one of his work trucks.
The business owner said Callentine did not have permission to go into the work truck and was never assigned to drive that work truck as part of his job duties.
Wakulla County detectives later discovered that on Dec. 12, Callentine had pawned the equipment for $40 in Leon County.
After detectives interviewed Callentine on Wednesday, they found probable cause to charge him with burglary and grand theft.
He was booked into the Wakulla County Jail.
