TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wednesday, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Tallahassee held a Fourth of July party.
Wednesday is a day most Americans will celebrate our country's independence and freedom.
For those who actually fought for those things, Wednesday meant a little extra.
The Veterans in Tallahassee gathered together at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3308, to share stories and celebrate this special holiday.
"We're celebrating independence and freedom and as veterans, we're all combat veterans that belong to the Veterans of Foreign Wars," said Duane Pickel, Commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3308. "I think we understand and appreciate freedom more than anybody else."
It doubled as a fundraiser and member drive with raffles, a cornhole tournament, and other fun activities for the whole family.
Organizers say the event helps remind people what this day is all about.
