VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - A Valdosta teenager was arrested in the shooting death of another teenager early Sunday morning.
Around 1:23am, Valdosta Police responded to a recreation center on the 600 block of South Oak Street. When they arrived, officers said they found 17 year old Solomon Lee, who had been shot multiple times.
According to Valdosta Police, Lee was pronounced dead later at South Georgia Medical Center.
Through an investigation, police said that the shooting stemmed from multiple fights at 604 South Oak Street, where the privately-owned Southside Recreation Center is located. They said that the fights escalated outside to the corner of South Oak Street at Kinchen Lane, where Lee was found.
Within a few hours of the incident, detectives said that they found enough evidence to identify 16-year-old Kevin Johnson as the shooter. In order to get the arrest warrants, they said contacted a Superior Court Judge since Johnson is underage.
According to the police report, Johnson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm Under the Age of 18. They said additional charges may be forthcoming.
