VALDOSTA, GA -- Valdosta police have a warning for you about an unusual scam that asks for samples of your DNA.

The scam says that the investigation unit with the Massachusetts State Police has found that you are in violation of a state law that requires you to provide a DNA sample or pay a $1,000 fine.

The scam claims that if you do not call the police department, you could be arrested and charged.

Investigators warn that this is just a scam and remind you to be cautious of anyone saying that you must pay them to stay out of jail.
