VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Valdosta police arrested four adults and a juvenile for the armed robbery of a convenience store.

Walter Lee Anderson III, 28; Jarvaz Coutney Miller, 26; Demetrius Jamall Aikens, 27; and a 16-year-old were arrested early Sunday for the robbery, the Valdosta Police Department said in a news release.

Police said that about 1:34 a.m. Sunday a store employee reported the robbery of The Raceway convenience store, 1406 N. St. Augustine Road.

The employee said a person entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the area.

A witness said the suspect got into a black sports utility vehicle and drove south on I-75.

Within minutes, deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office spotted a vehicle matching the vehicle's description in the 1800 block of West Hill Avenue. During a traffic stop on the vehicle, the news release said, deputies observed evidence that connected the occupants to the armed robbery.

Valdosta PD detectives met with Lowndes deputies to continue the investigation. As a result of the investigation, all four people inside the car were taken into custody. The adults were transported to the Lowndes County Jail without incident.

The juvenile was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

"The Valdosta Police Department appreciates the witnesses in this case for providing valuable information that assisted in the identification of the offender vehicle," the news release said. "The Lowndes County Deputies did an outstanding job in quickly identifying and stopping the vehicle that was involved in the armed robbery."
