GILCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A two-vehicle accident in Gilchrist County leaves four people dead and two people with serious injuries.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, on Saturday around 5:45 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on US-129 at the intersection of CR-340.
FHP says both vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection and ran off the roadway.
There were five passengers in one vehicle between the ages of 18 and 21. Four were pronounced dead at the scene and the other sustained serious injuries. FHP says the driver of the vehicle is unknown at this time.
FHP also states the passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital.
According to FHP, it is unknown if alcohol played a factor in the accident and charges are pending further investigation.
