JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 7-year-old Tallahassee girl is dead after a car crash on I-10 in Jackson County.

Liliana Clanton, 7, died from her injuries in the accident.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday on I-10.  FHP stated that a Chevy Spark and Dodge Grand Caravan were traveling east on I-10 in the outside lane when traffic started backing up due to an earlier crash.

Troopers say the Dodge Caravan slowed down due to stopped traffic, but the Chevy Spark failed to come to a stop, hitting the back of the Dodge.

Clanton was a passenger in the Chevy Spark and was transported to the hospital where she later died of her injuries.  The drivers of the Dodge Caravan and Chevy Spark both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Jackson Hospital.

According to FHP, everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts. They don't believe alcohol played a factor in the accident.

Charges are pending further investigation.
