TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some people around Tallahassee got a surprise on their morning coffee run.
That's because the Tallahassee Police Department was out for Coffee with a Cop.
Officers spent Tuesday morning at the McDonald's on North Monroe and Martin Luther King Jr. Street, fueling their day and getting to know the people in the community.
This is one of the many stops the agency is making in hopes of building a stronger bond with the community.
"It's still about talking with people, taking care of people, first and foremost," said Chief Michael DeLeo with the Tallahassee Police Department. "Our victims, people who need help, or the less fortunate. "
"When you come into a place like this and they're with normal people just being normal cops, it's a good thing," said Doris Strong, who had coffee with a cop.
TPD says they'll continue to host events like Coffee with a Cop to continue to be active in the community
