TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is remembering Sgt. Daniel Dale Green, killed in the line of duty on Nov. 13, 2002, in an ambush while responding to a home-invasion robbery.
"We will never forget his service & sacrifice," TPD said in a Facebook post Monday.
Approaching the scene, Green saw a suspicious car and called in a description of it before he was shot four times, once in the back of the head.
The suspect, who was arrested after a long chase and shootout, was convicted of Green's murder on Sept. 8, 2004 and sentenced to life in prison on Oct. 21, 2004.
Green served 13 years with TPD. He is survived by his wife and three children.
