TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee Police Department officer in an unmarked patrol car received minor injuries early Wednesday in a three-vehicle accident.
Officer Tyesha Gates was transported to the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare after the accident at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday at State Road 63 and south of Fred George Road.
Chloe Kaitlin Wood, 28, of Havana, FL, was cited for careless driving.
FHP said that Wood's vehicle was traveling northbound on State Road 63 in the inside lane while another vehicle driving by another motorist was traveling northbound on State Road 63 in the inside lane and attempting to merge into the left turn lane.
The officer's patrol car was stopped in the left lane directly in front of the second vehicle.
FHP's report says that for an unknown reason Wood failed to properly maintain a single lane and crossed into the inside turn lane, causing her vehicle's front left to collide with the second motorist's rear right.
The second vehicle hit the unmarked TPD patrol car.
