Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating the death of a Godby High School student. TPD says the student was on the school's outside track, when he fell ill and collapsed. The student was then transported to a local hospital, where he died shortly after.
Because of the student's young age, the Tallahassee Police Department is looking into the matter. Investigators from TPD's Homicide and Forensic Unit are interviewing witnesses and processing evidence from the scene.
Tallahassee Police Chief Michael J. DeLeo has released a statement, saying "Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of this tragic event. I can assure the community that we will investigate this case to the fullest extent to determine what has occurred."
The student's name has not been released at this time. Anyone with information about this case is urged to call the Tallahassee Police Department at (850) 606-5800.
