GIBSONTON, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay-area toddler is hospitalized in stable condition after being bitten on her head and face by a dog.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cristal Bermudez Nunez says 2-year-old Alessandra Landrum was visiting the Gibsonton home of Brian Moore with her parents Sunday evening.
Authorities say the girl had been petting and feeding Moore's dog, a Labrador mix, earlier in the day.
According to the sheriff's office, the dog bit Alessandra when she fell down in Moore's backyard.
Bermudez says the girl suffered puncture wounds to her hairline and face. Animal control took the dog into custody.
