TIFT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Tift County deputies say there has been a spike in phone scams with callers impersonating law enforcement officers.

Authorities say some of the scammers will say you owe money for missing jury duty. The woman who received this voice mail said she wanted to see what would happen when she called back.

"I tried the other day and it just, I mean I've called back twice now," said Nancy Duke. "I tried the other day and they just hung up on me. But the caller ID said its from Enid, Oklahoma. It is so obvious it's a scam though, that's what gets me about it."

The Tift County Sheriff's Office wants anyone who receives these types of calls or voicemails to contact them immediately at (229) 388-6021.

They also advise to not send any money or provide any financial information to the caller.
