Three men dead in fiery Taylor County crash

TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Three men are dead after a fiery car crash Saturday night.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Paul Poppel Road/County Road 359.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver, 30-year-old Matthew York of Baxley, Georiga was heading south when, while approaching a curve, the vehicle crossed the northbound lane and flew into a ditch.

Troopers say the car continued into the woods, hitting several trees before overturning and catching fire with three inside. York and his two passengers, 33-year-old Brett King of Lamont, Florida and 25-year-old Brett Bassett from Perry, Florida were all pronounced dead at the scene.

No word yet if alcohol was a factor.
