THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Ahead of The Rose Show and Festival, "Hands on Thomas County" is devoting the entire week to celebrating service and volunteers.
Tuesday night, hundreds of volunteers were honored and given awards at the Cheers for Volunteers event.
The event was held at the Amphitheater downtown.
Hands On Heroes, who are nominated by their peers for going above and beyond and making a difference in their community were honored at the event.
This annual event is always the week of the Rose Show & Festival.
The organization says, they couldn't be more excited about this year's rose parade theme: "Helping Hands: A Celebration of Community Volunteers."
"There are over 200 different and active nonprofits in Thomas County, Georgia and for a community that size, our size to be able to support those nonprofits and their missions and their causes is just truly amazing," said Angela Kiminas, HOTC Executive Director.
This week, several businesses are hosting Appreciation Stations around town, giving volunteers coffee or food for their service in the community.
