TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A home is a total loss after it caught fire on Tallahassee's south side. 

The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 3400 block of Blue Jay Drive at about 12 p.m. Thursday. 

When crews arrived, the house was engulfed with heavy smoke and TFD says the house is a total loss. 

TFD states there was one person in the home at the time, but no injuries were reported.  

The owner of the home has been displaced and Red Cross was called for assistance. 

At this time, there is no estimate on how much damage was caused. 

TFD says the cause of the fire is under investigation. 

TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS, and City of Tallahassee Utilities.
