MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee woman has been charged with DUI manslaughter after a fatal crash in Madison County Sunday night.

A passenger in one vehicle, Richard Christison, 25, of High Springs, Florida, died, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Christison was in a Dodge Ram pick-up truck driven by Dennis Castoral, 36, of High Springs, Florida. Castoral suffered serious injuries and was taken to Madison Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the first vehicle, Candace Cullen, 50, of Tallahassee, faces charges of DUI manslaughter, DUI property damage and DUI in the second degree for following too close.

FHP says Cullen's Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the right travel lane and Castoral's vehicle was traveling below the speed limit ahead of her while pulling a trailer.

Cullen failed to slow down, FHP said, and her front collided with the rear of the trailer, causing Christison's vehicle to travel off the roadway.

The trailer unit, with another vehicle on it, separated from the Ram and overturned. The pickup truck traveled sideways into a ditch, overturned and came to rest on its roof.

According to Leon County court records, Cullen was charged with DUI in May 2017.
