Tallahassee services will change for Veterans Day

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee’s administrative offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 10. 

In a news release, the city provided its schedule changes for the week of November 5 - 11 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits, StarMetro, the Animal Service Center and city-run community centers.

No Changes to Waste Management Schedule

GARBAGE / RECYCLING / YARD WASTE (red week) / BULKY ITEMS (red week) – During the holiday week, residential and commercial operations will run as normal. There will be no change to pick up schedules.

Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after collection. Customers are reminded to separate yard waste piles from any bulky items set out for pickup. Customers needing more information may view solid waste schedules at Talgov.com/YOU or contact City of Tallahassee Utilities at 891-4YOU (4968).

StarMetro Service Changes and Free Rides

In honor of Veterans Day, StarMetro, the City's mass transit system, will offer free rides for everybody on its fixed route service on Saturday, Nov. 11.

StarMetro will change its operations for the Veterans Day holiday as follows:

FIXED ROUTE SERVICES – On Friday, Nov. 10, StarMetro will operate a Saturday schedule with night service. The C.K. Steele plaza booth will be open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

DIAL-A-RIDE SERVICES – On Friday, Nov. 10, Dial-A-Ride service will operate on a Saturday schedule. The administrative offices, however, will be closed. There will be no change in scheduling procedures.

Animal Service Center Closed Friday

The Animal Service Center will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day. Normal hours will resume Saturday, Nov. 11, with the center opening at 10 a.m. Customers needing more information, including photos of animals available for adoption, may visit Talgov.com/animals or contact the Animal Service Center at 891-2950.

City Animal Control will be available for emergency situations only on Friday, Nov. 10, and can be reached via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency at 606-5800.

Parks and Recreation Updates

Community centers operated by the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10. Community centers will resume normal hours on Saturday, Nov. 11. To learn more about the various community centers and what they offer, visit Talgov.com/Parks.
