Tallahassee man killed in accident on Woodville Highway

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 50-year-old Tallahassee man is dead following a single-car accident that shut down part of Woodville Highway Friday morning. 

Gerald Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the single-car accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. Friday on Woodville Highway at Natural Wells Drive. 

FHP stated Bailey was driving west on Natural Wells Drive approaching Woodville Highway. Bailey did not stop at the stop sign and crossed Woodville Highway at a high rate of speed. 

FHP said Bailey hit a tree on the shoulder of the road. 

The Leon County Sheriff's Office, Tallahassee Fire Department, Tallahassee EMS, and Woodville Volunteer Fire Department assisted FHP on scene. 

FHP said it is unknown at this time if alcohol played a factor in the accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal wreck on Natural Wells Road and Woodville Highway. They say it happened around 11:39 a.m. Friday morning. 

The Leon County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash.

LCSO says that Woodville Highway is closed at Natural Wells Road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
