TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Advocates for a deaf man serving a life sentence for murder say he was framed by his brother who is also serving time in the 1981 Tampa slaying.
But, in a surprise twist, a third brother not involved in the crime told Florida's parole commission Wednesday that he believes the deaf man is guilty.
The commission reviewed the cases of Felix and Frank Garcia to determine whether their eligibility for parole should be reduced. Advocates for Felix say he was framed by Frank.
But brother Mike Garcia and sister Tina Daniels appeared only on behalf of Frank Garcia and not Felix. Mike Garcia said both brothers took part in the murder of Joseph Tramontana Jr.
The board decided to move up the potential parole date for Felix Garcia but not for Frank Garcia.
