TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - There were a mix of reactions Friday on Florida State's campus after news of Jimbo Fisher's choice to leave FSU for Texas A&M University quickly spread around the Internet.
Students were talking about who they heard were potential new coaches but many students expressed frustration and disappointment in Fisher's decision.
"I'm disappointed to see him leave, but at the same time I don't really hate him for it because of what he's done for us and I think, you know, he should be free to go wherever he wants," said Dino Hernandez.
Social media was full of people sharing their thoughts, both good and bad comments floating around the topic of Fisher leaving.
One former FSU quarterback, Danny Kanell, tweeted, reminding Florida State to be thankful for the years Jimbo spent here and to get excited for the future.
Kelly Tetrick responded to his tweet saying it's not so much that he's leaving the university, it's the way he's doing it.
Rumors are also spreading as to why Fisher chose to leave the university in the first place.
Several students WTXL spoke to say they strongly believe the football team's bad record this season played a large role and if the team had a strong season, this would not be happening.
One thing people seem to agree on most is that they are thankful for the eight seasons he spent as coach, but they believe he should have told his players and the community in a different way.
