The state of Florida has two weekends in June where fishermen can cast their lines without a license -- one for freshwater and one for saltwater.

The license-free saltwater days are June 1 and June 2 while the license-free freshwater days are June 8 and June 9.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the license-free fishing days "provide an excellent opportunity for those who don't yet have a fishing license to experience fishing, take youth fishing, or for avid anglers to introduce a friend to fishing without having to purchase a license."

On these free fishing days, the license requirement is waived for both residents and non-Florida residents.

However, keep in mind that all other rules such as seasons, bag and size limits still apply.
