ATLANTA (AP) — Some students were turned away from a high school basketball game in Atlanta amid heightened security.

Authorities said all fans allowed into Tuesday night's game between Benjamin E. Mays and Carver high schools had to pass through metal detectors. Only students accompanied by parents were allowed to watch.

The restrictions come about three months after a shooting happened when the same schools faced each other during football season.

Police said the gunfire during the October game happened in the parking lot of Lakewood Stadium, where hundreds of fans were watching the game at the time. Police said an off-duty officer had heard shots, spotted a teen with a gun and shot him, wounding him in the arm.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1JFXRPY) that Tuesday's basketball game concluded without any problems.
