FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Federal authorities are investigating a small plane crash in Fayette County.
Federal Aviation Administration officials say a single-engine plane crashed on the athletic field at Starrs Mill High School in Fayetteville Sunday afternoon. Fayetteville is about 20 miles south of downtown Atlanta.
Authorities say the plane departed the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport and was headed for the Harris County Airport in Pine Mountain.
FAA officials say the plane was carrying two people. County Emergency Management Agency Director Pete Nelms tells WSB-TV that minor injuries have been reported.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
