AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — A slain Auburn football player was remembered as a joyous teen who sometimes talked about being an FBI agent and scratched plans of going to college in Florida as soon as he met Auburn football coach Gus Malzahn.

Eighteen-year-old, redshirted freshman football player Jakell Lenard Mitchell died after being shot in the chest early Sunday morning at an off-campus apartment complex.

Mario Mitchell says his son was a good, fun-living kid who hoped to start as halfback next season.

Auburn police arrested 22-year-old Markale Deandra Hart of Camp Hill, Alabama, on murder charges Sunday afternoon. Police haven't released a motive in the shooting. However, Mitchell's girlfriend said he was arguing with a man outside a party when a third man opened fire on him, shooting him multiple times.
