SHREVEPORT, Texas (WTXL) - Florida State is playing in the Independence Bowl Wednesday to keep their bowl streak alive.

But there are some Seminole players you won't see.

Derwin James declared for the NFL draft a few weeks back and is skipping the game and so is Josh Sweat.

Interim head coach Odell Haggins said last week Matthew Thomas and Ermon Lane are not practicing for the bowl but Haggins says the team is staying focused.

"We are a family at Florida State University. Florida State is a big time program," said Haggins. "We just have to move forward, don't worry about the circumstances, stay a family, fight together, pray together."
