LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Friday, Leon County broke the record for highest number of homicide related deaths since 1989.
The shooting that pushed 2017 over the record happened Friday morning on Crescent Hills Drive.
The Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff's Office confirmed that in total, there have been at least 18 homicides in the area.
LCSO says that they have worked four of those cases, while TPD handled 14.
Here's the breakdown of homicides in the county since 1989 according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement:

Although FDLE reports there were at least 18 homicides in Leon County in 2015, four of those were prison deaths that occurred outside of the county.
A spokesman with FDLE says that's because their death investigation was processed in Leon County, making the deaths show up in the agency's Uniformed Crime Report.
Officers note that the Stand Your Ground law may also impact the homicide number. They say that during trial, if the law applies, then the homicide designation is retracted, meaning the number could go down.
For now, several cases still pending as law enforcement works to make arrests.
Below is a list of the shootings that have happened in Leon County since 2017:
October 13, 2017 - Alfred A. Johnson, 28, was shot and killed early Friday morning in the 1500 block of Crescent Hills Drive.
October 10, 2017 - Antonio D. Randolph Jr. died after being found in a roadway early Tuesday morning.
September 24, 2017 - Taris Nickolas was fatally shot in the 600 block of Steele Drive.
September 13, 2017 - Andrew Glover III was shot at 1935 West Tennessee St. at approximately 2:40 a.m. He later died from his injuries.
September 9, 2017 - Keives Brooks was killed in a shooting at the Alliance at 400 Tuesday night.
September 5, 2017 - Rosario S. Sanchez and Paula Portillo were found dead inside of a home in the 300 block of Mastic Lane.
August 5, 2017 - Travis Wilson died in an shooting that began Saturday morning in the parking lot of Waffle House at 1939 West Tallahassee Street.
July 25, 2017 - Devin Landers was shot at 132 Dixie Drive and later died.
July 1, 2017 - Beulah Mae Wright's body was found on Putnam Drive Saturday night.
June 10, 2017 - 17-year-old Nakenya Richardson and 26-year-old Shomari Fuller were found at the Tyson Green Condominiums suffering from gunshot wounds. They later died.
June 7, 2017 - Laron Fryson was shot and was later pronounced dead after he and two others attempted to commit an armed robbery.
May 9, 2017 - Hoyt Q. Birge was found dead inside a silver Toyota Camry at U Club Apartments.
April 30, 2017 - Officers say they found a man suffering from serious injuries on 1517 Brook Street Sunday afternoon. He later died from gunshot wounds.
February 2, 2017 - Lester Denmark died after being shot at an apartment complex on 1700 Joe Luis Street early Thursday morning.
January 29, 2017 - Tiffany Nance was found dead in the woods in the Ochlocknee River Wildlife Management Area.
January 8, 2017 - Mary Gray was found in an car accident suffering from gunshot wounds. She later died.
