JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The death of a 12-year-old boy brings to two the number of people who have died as a result of a fiery ATV crash in Jackson County.

The 12-year-old driver of the ATV that crashed into a car on Tuesday died on Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

FHP says Cason Hatcher, who died of his injuries while at a hospital, did not stop at the stop sign, causing the accident.

The ATV overturned, caught fire and was destroyed.

The 17-year-old passenger, Michael Riley Torbett, was pronounced dead on the scene.


JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 17-year-old boy is dead after a Polaris ATV he was riding on was hit by a car in Jackson County.

Florida Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Martin Road and Ontario Road outside of Marianna.

Troopers say a 12-year-old boy driving the ATV did not stop at the stop sign, and a car hit them.

The ATV overturned, caught fire and was destroyed.

The 17-year-old passenger, Michael Riley Torbett, was pronounced dead on scene.

The 12-year-old is in critical condition at a local hospital.

Two teens in the car were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Charges are pending.
