SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Savannah police say they made 48 arrests during the city's extended St. Patrick's Day celebration.
Police began counting arrests related to the sprawling street party Friday night as thousands of revelers began arriving in the city. Savannah-Chatham County police said Wednesday that 21 of those arrests— nearly half the total — were made on the actual Irish holiday Tuesday.
The most common charge was disorderly conduct, with 16 citations issued between Friday night and Tuesday. Police said there five total arrests for public intoxication, four arrests for obstruction and three for marijuana possession.
Only one person was cited for underage drinking during the St. Patrick's party, police say, and only one citation was issued for urinating in public.
