GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A former full-time and current reserve Florida Highway Patrol officer was killed during debris removal on Thursday, according to WMBB.
WMBB reports that Nick Rivera, who was also an employee of Gulf Coast State College, was killed Thursday evening. The Florida Highway Patrol told WMBB that he passed away in an unfortunate accident at his home.
The Florida Highway Patrol Command Officers Association released the following statement on Facebook:
"Our sincere condolences to the Rivera Family. FHP Corporal Rivera dedicated his life to public service and has passed on his knowledge to countless law enforcement to improve the quality of law enforcement service in our communities. Godspeed and you will be missed Nick!"
Few details currently are known about Rivera's death.
