TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is closing its investigation into cyber-attacks that affected state testing in March.
Officials say no student information, test results or testing instruments were compromised because of the attacks.
It was determined that the attackers used computers and networks to access a Department of Education subcontractor's server, "...FDLE uncovered in excess of 29,000 IP addresses that were potentially utilized to launch numerous attacks against the subcontractor."
FDLE says because of the flood of connections to the server, the test takers were unable to to access the server and their tests.
The department goes on to say that the owners of the computers used in the attacks may not know their computer was compromised and used in the attack. Most of the IP addresses used in the attack are believed to be from foreign countries.
No motive or suspects were discovered during the investigation, according to FDLE.
