TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 20-year-old woman accused of knowingly giving her partner genital herpes is facing charges in Leon County.
Keandra Vann, 20, of Quincy turned herself in on Thursday.
According to court documents, Vann began a relationship with the victim in January 2016. During a visit to the hospital in April 2017, documents say the victim found out Vann had the genital herpes simplex virus.
Because the victim didn't know about it, he asked her about it to which he says she replied, "I'm sorry." When the victim got himself tested, he also tested positive for the virus.
Leon County deputies interviewed Vann in October and she told them that she contracted the virus when she was a teenager. Vann admitted that she and victim were sexually active after they met in May, however she never told him that she had the virus.
According to documents, Vann believed she didn't need to tell the victim because she didn't have any outbreaks. She said she finally told him about the virus during a hospital visit.
Vann released her medical records to investigators, which showed that she indeed had the virus.
She turned herself in on Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrested. Vann was charged with voluntary transmission of an STD. Court records indicate she remains in jail on a $1,000 bond.
