TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A employee has been arrested, accused of trying to sexually assault a victim after completing work in their apartment.

Arturo Hernandes-Paz was arrested on Thursday.

According to an arrest report, the Tallahassee Police Department was called to University Gardens on Putnam Drive on Aug. 8.

The report says that the victim told police they had been sexually assaulted by an apartment complex employee earlier in the day.

The victim told them that earlier that morning, a flooring company came to redo her apartment's flooring. While they were working, the victim went to sleep in the bedroom.

The document says that the victim woke up to a knock on the door around 2 p.m.

"At the door was one of the workers, later identified as Arturo Hernandes-Paz," the document states.

The victim stated Hernandes-Paz said that while the work was completed in the apartment, he was still looking for a "paint top" that his coworker left in the apartment.

At that point, the arrest report states that Hernandes-Paz started walking around looking for the top.

"While doing this," the report says, "Hernandes-Paz began engaging [the victim] and giving [the victim] compliments." The victim told officers that compliments were centered around their body made them feel uncomfortable.

The victim said Hernandes-Paz began asking more questions, eventually coming to the bedroom and blocking the victim's only exit.

Hernandes-Paz then began touching the victim, trying to pull their clothes off and force them onto the bed.

The victim states they managed to knock Hernandes-Paz off, ran out of the room, grabbed a phone, and told him to leave. He then left the apartment.

When officers interviewed Hernandes-Paz, he denied touching the victim. "After being asked several times," the report states, "Hernandes-Paz was becoming agitated and said he did not do anything wrong."

Based on an investigation and Hernandes-Paz's "inconsistent statements", he was arrested and charged with battery.

A month later, warrant was issued for Hernandes-Paz's arrest on Sept. 7 for attempted sexual battery. He was rearrested on Sept. 14 and transported to the Leon County Jail.

He is currently in jail on a $50,000 bond.
