ROCKMART, Ga. (AP) — State and federal authorities are investigating an explosion that killed one person and injured five others at a feed plant in north Georgia.
Rockmart Fire Chief Todd Queen says the Georgia Fire Marshal's Office is seeking help from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to determine what happened Sunday at a JCG Farms feed mill in Rockmart.
Polk County Corner Tony Brazier says an explosion occurred at the plant early Sunday, killing 25-year-old Justin Deems of Rockmart.
Five other workers were injured in the blast. The explosion caused the partial collapse of a two-story building at the plant site.
The plant produces chicken feed but will be closed during the investigation and repairs.
