VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - The Valdosta Police Department is saying they have received calls about monkey sightings in the county.

Police say since Monday, they had received 8 calls of reported sightings. The monkey was first spotted in Hahira and then in Valdosta.

Callers described the monkey as the size small with medium brown spots.

On Friday, Police say a Valdosta City Employee saw the monkey on the 400 Block of River Street in a yard. It was later seen near JL Lomax Drive.

Police say they reached out to Wild Adventures who told them there were no monkeys missing from the park. There have also been no reports of a missing monkey.

"Monkeys are very unpredictable animals. For safety reasons, the Valdosta Police Department encourages anyone who spots the monkey to contact 911 and let the authorities handle this matter", said Lt. Kari Williams.
