TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a fatal one-vehicle crash that occurred early Friday at Thomasville Road and Hermitage Boulevard.
The driver died from his injuries after the TPD and Emergency responders were called to the scene about 2:11 a.m. Friday.
Police have now identified the driver as 22-year-old Jovonte' De'Niece Lamar Davis. He was a FAMU student. FAMU released this statement to WTXL:
"Jovonte Davis, a student enrolled in summer courses at FAMU's School of Business and Industry was involved in a fatal single-car accident. It happened off-campus Thursday night at Thomasville and Hermitage Roads in Tallahassee. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. The Tallahassee Police Department is conducting an investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available."
The roadway has since been reopened. Earlier Friday, TPD asked motorists to avoid the area of Thomasville Road and Hermitage Boulevard.
