DONALSONVILLE, GA (WTXL) - A man is dead in Seminole County after being struck by a car while walking along the side of a highway.
According to Georgia State Patrol troopers, 69-year-old Lamar Martin was walking along the side of GA-91 in Donalsonville just before 7a.m. on Tuesday. Troopers said a driver was turning off of the highway onto Wiley Avenue just as Martin was crossing the street.
The driver told troopers she tried to swerve out of the way as soon as she saw Martin, but couldn't in time, striking him.
The driver, as well as a passerby who did not witness the crash, tried to assist Martin. He was taken by helicopter to Southeast Alabama Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
Troopers do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. They have not said whether or not they plan to press charges.
