Pedestrian ID'd in Accident Near Cascades Park

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--A police report reveals more details in the crash involving the pedestrian hit by a car near Cascades Park.

Police say the driver didn't see the 21-year-old pedestrian as he was crossing the crosswalk. At this time, WTXL has chosen not to name the pedestrian. A diagram shows he was in the middle of the crosswalk when he was struck around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

The car driven by, 35-year-old Ameena Mortimer, was stopped on Franklin Boulevard in the left turn lane preparing to turn onto East Pensacola Street, and the pedestrian was headed south along the west side of Franklin Boulevard towards the marked crosswalk across East Pensacola Street. 

The driver says she began a left turn from Franklin Boulevard onto East Pensacola Street to head west with a green traffic light. 

The pedestrian was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and remains in critical condition.
