WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man is facing careless driving charges after he lost control of his car, hitting a 17-year-old pedestrian and another vehicle.
Kenneth Nichols, 33, is being charged with careless driving by Florida Highway Patrol.
According to FHP, the accident happened at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of State Road 363 and Myrick Road.
FHP stated Nichols was driving northbound on State Road 363 and another car was parked facing westbound on Myrick Road.
FHP said a school bus was stopped with its caution lights on facing northbound on State Road 363, when Nichols failed to maintain control of his car, veered onto the grass shoulder, driving into a ditch.
The car continued traveling, eventually going airborne, hitting the driver side of the other car and a 17-year-old pedestrian, who was about get on the school bus.
The driver of the other car and the 17-year-old suffered minor injuries and both were taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Nichols was not injured in the accident.
FHP said alcohol did not play a factor in the accident.
