'Operation Power Up' helps first responders purchase generators for their families

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with Tallahassee-Leon Federal Credit Union to offer assistance for LCSO employees wanting to buy a generator.

This initiative is called Operation Power Up. The local credit union will offer special financing so purchasing one of these valuable tools is more attainable. The goal is to reduce the stress over concerns for their families while being on duty during hurricanes and severe weather. 

The loan package provides financing up to $10,000, with a 60 month term and 5% interest rate.

Representatives from the credit union will be on hand at LCSO's annual Benefits Fair on Friday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

The benefit fair consists of more than 20 vendors, including offerings flu shots and AngioScreening.
