OCILLA, Ga. (WTXL) - We have more developments on the latest new motions filed by Ryan Duke's attorneys this week.
This comes six days after Judge Bill Reinhardt overruled five motions.
Duke is the man accused of killing Tara Grindstead, an Irwin County teacher and beauty queen.
The defense attorneys said they originally filed the motion to retain an expert in the field of false confessions, but it was denied under seal.
Now they refiled it with the seal to ask for the state to be the responsible party when originally they asked for county funds.
In this motion, the defendants said Duke released a statement to Bo Dukes confessing he committed the crime and was later given to the GBI.
"And part of the reason why we had filed that under seal before was because there hasn't been all of this talk about the confession and things like that alleged confession statement," said Ashleigh Merchant, Ryan Duke's Attorney. "And now we just refiled that not under seal."
Also in the motion it alleges Duke was under the influence of narcotics when he gave the alleged confession.
